Training Overview:

Our traditional yoga teacher training course creates a balance between the mental, physical and spiritual facets of yoga and meditation. It will carry you on a holistic journey of discovering a deep sense of your body and realizing the love for self. Supporting you to understand and witness the ancient philosophy of yoga in real life. The Holy City of Rishikesh, with its peaceful nature and unique energy, offers the ideal surroundings for an experience that opens your mind and finds peace in your inner world.

Traditional Yogic wisdom

Yoga is more than just mere movement of the body, it is a spiritual journey dating back thousands of years in the history of Indian philosophy. In Sanskrit, the word Yoga means ‘union‘, connecting powerful tools such as asanas (physical postures), meditation, and pranayama (conscious breathing). Nowadays, yoga practice is only focused on physical fitness and stress relief. However, the purpose of traditional Vedic yoga is to let go of attachments to our beliefs and attain sahaja samadhi, a deep state of meditative consciousness. At Vedic yoga academy, we honor this ancient wisdom and aim to preserve it by sharing beyond the knowledge of books, helping you to realize a more meaningful life.

Path of self-discovery

At Vedic yoga academy, we guide students on a transformative journey of introspection, self-reflection (Manonigraha), and deep observation of the mind. Through dedicated practice, you will learn to become a witness to your thoughts and emotions, cultivating awareness and inner stillness.

Our training offers a holistic blend of meditation, yoga nidra, asanas, pranayama, Vedic and yogic philosophy, and Ayurveda, all designed to help you connect with your true self and experience profound spiritual growth. In the supportive energy of our Conscious Community, you will go on the path of self discovery and transformation.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Do I need previous experience for 200-hour Yoga training?

No prior experience is required. While previous practice can be helpful, we tailor our classes to suit all levels, ensuring a supportive learning environment.

I don't want to be a Yoga teacher, can I still join?

Absolutely. You don’t need to want to teach, many join simply to deepen their personal practice and understanding of yoga.

Can I start teaching yoga right after I complete the training?

Yes. If you complete a 200-hour Yoga Alliance certified course, you’ll receive an internationally recognized certificate that qualifies you to teach yoga anywhere in the world. Many students begin teaching right away, whether in studios, retreats, or online.

Do I have any free days or breaks during the course?

Yes, depending on the course you will have time off. You can use it to deepen your practice, prepare for the exam, relax or explore surrounding areas. On top of that there are also breaks during the day for meals, self-study, and rest. A sample of the daily schedule is there on each course page on this website, which will give you a good idea of how the day runs.

When is the best time to go on a yoga teacher training in Rishikesh, India?

The best time is September to April when the weather is pleasant and conducive to outdoor practice. However, quality courses run year-round. Choose a time when you can fully commit mentally, physically, and spiritually.

Do you offer airport pickup to the Yoga School in Rishikesh?

Yes, we recommend flying to New Delhi or Dehradun Airport (India). You can take a bus or request a taxi through us. Contact us, and we’ll help arrange the best travel options for you.

Do I need to bring my Yoga mat?

Please bring your own Yoga mat in case you want to use it personally. We will provide all props to you during the course.

What should I bring for the Yoga Training?

  • Comfortable clothing for practice
  • Outdoor shoes
  • Warm clothes for winter
  • Reusable water bottle
  • Shawl to cover shoulders
  • One white dress for ceremonies

How do I choose the right yoga teacher training when there are so many schools in India?

Look beyond marketing. Ask about lineage, teachers’ experience, daily routine, and whether the training feels authentic. Vedic Yoga Academy focuses on depth, tradition, and personal guidance, not just certification. The right school will resonate with your heart, not just your checklist.

Will I get personal guidance from teachers, or is it more of a group-based training?

Both. The training includes group classes, discussions, and teaching practice. But teachers are available for personal guidance too. You’ll have chances to ask questions, share challenges, and receive direct feedback. It’s a balance of community learning and individual support.

Can I continue deepening my practice after the 200-hour training, or will I need to take another course right away?

The 200-hour course gives you a strong foundation, and many students teach confidently after it. You don’t need to rush into the 300-hour training. Instead, practice, teach, and let experience guide you. When you feel ready for more depth, the next training will call naturally.

Is it safe for women to travel alone to join your yoga teacher training in India?

Yes. Many women join our programs solo. The academy environment is safe, community-oriented, and respectful. We assist with airport pickups, provide comfortable accommodation, and ensure you feel supported from arrival to departure. Past students often say they feel like family here.

What if English is not my first language, will I still be able to follow the classes easily?

Yes. Our teachers are experienced in guiding international groups. They explain concepts clearly and provide space for questions. Yoga itself is universal, the practices go beyond language. As long as you understand basic English, you’ll be comfortable in the program.
