At Vedic Yoga Academy meditation retreat, you will be guided through Pratyahara (withdrawal of the senses from the mind), Dharana (focusing of the mental awareness) and experiencing Dhyana (continued meditative awareness).
Meditation Experience
1. Physical, Active senses (Posture based): Introduction to various active postures which improve physical and mental well-being
2. Cognitive Senses (touch, sound, smell, sight, hear): Understanding the process of mental actions which helps in acquiring the knowledge via thought, experience, and the 5 senses
3. Breathing: How to utilize breath to improve mental, physical, and spiritual health
4. Mindfulness: Learn how to train your mind to be fully attentive to what’s happening around you, to focus on what you’re doing or to the space where you are in.
5. Taking responsibility: Understand the role you play in your life and how it is not dependent upon anything or anyone else, but you.
6. Self love (bliss): The art of letting go of the burden and love self without any conditions
7. Just being (Meditation): how to attain the meditative position of ‘just being’, which is wonderfully cleansing, and very productive
How to let go of negative emotions
1. Write in a journal: The art of recording the happenings and melt the negative emotions
2. Meditation or other contemplative practices: Focused meditation practices specifically developed to let go of the negative thoughts
