Fundamentals of Pranayama – The Prana determines the state of our body, mind and soul. It flows through thousands of subtle energy channels called ‘nadis’ and energy centers called ‘chakras’. The quantity and quality of Prana and the way it flows through the nadis and chakras determines one’s state of mind. If the Prana level is high and its flow is continuous, smooth and steady, the mind remains calm, positive and enthusiastic. At Vedic Yoga Academy, you will learn about Prana, the doshas of the body, the chakras and how to align all with the help of breathing.
Panchkosha Vital Seaths – We, as individual selves, are a microcosmic manifestation of the divine self and are encased in five vital sheaths or centres of consciousness, called pancha kosha. The 5 Koshas are traditionally classified as annamaya (sheath of food), Pranamaya (sheath of vitality), manomaya (sheath of mind), vijnanamaya (sheath of intellect) and anandamaya (sheath of bliss). Our masterful Yoga teachers will teach you all of the five Koshas in detail and how to be aware of these Koshas to take the inner journey to uncover your true self or Atman.
Prana and Chakra – Understand the relationship between the Prana and the chakras. Chakras are energy centers in human body and with the help of Prana, they get activated and release positive vibes. You will learn how to activate the chakras with help of Pranayama.
Pranayama and Nadi – The human body is essentially a mass of energy form. The subtle energy body is a part of us which can’t be seen with naked eye, but operates within us and can be felt, determining who we are. Nadis are the pathways and Prana is the vital energy flowing through them. We will teach you all about the relationship of Prana and Nadi and how they are related with the Chakras.
Pranayama and Mantra - Mantra is the sound revealed from profound meditation. Sound is energy. Sound has pitch, volume, intensity, tone and certain subtle qualities. Chanting correct mantras in correlation with Prana has multifold benefits and this relation forms the basis of many Prana vidya techniques. We will cover in depth the correct application of mantras, within the specialized form of Prana vidya.
Essential Mudras, Bandhas and Asanas for Pranayama – Together, we will do an in-depth study of Cleansing techniques, Mudras (Mental attitude or gestures), Bandhas (Energy locks), Nada (Sound) Meditation and other essential guidelines.
Three aspects of Pranayama – These are the core basics of Pranayama. Learn how to deepen the art of Inhalation (puraka), Breath holding (kumbhaka) and Exhalation (rechaka) and their profound effects on body, mind and thoughts.
Physiology of Pranayama – With practice, experience firsthand how Pranayama calms the mind, recharge the charkas and refreshes the soul.
Guideline of Pranayama – Learn the correct posture for Pranayama, how to avoid distractions & fatigue while practicing Pranayama and how to teach others this ancient art. This will help you becoming a skillful Pranayama teacher.
